A friend says she sent you a code by mistake

A 6-digit code has just arrived by text message. Then this comes from a church member.

Mama Ngozi (Church) online
Mama Ngozi (Church):

Good evening sir. Please I mistakenly sent my WhatsApp code to your number. Kindly send it back to me, I need it now.

8:21 pm

What would you do?

Send her the code. She is from church

Not safe. That code is the key to your own WhatsApp. Her account has probably been taken over, and the scammer now wants yours.

Don’t send it. Call Mama Ngozi on the phone to check

Safe choice. Correct. The code was for your WhatsApp, not hers. Calling her will warn her that her account may be hacked.

Forward the whole text message so she can see it herself

Not safe. Forwarding the message gives away the code just the same. Never share it in any way.

Remember this

Golden rule

Never send anyone your WhatsApp code, not even a friend.
